Steve Spinner

Steven L. Spinner

Chairman of the Board

Steven L. Spinner has served as the UNFI President and Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the UNFI Board of Directors since September 2008. Prior to joining the company in September 2008, Mr. Spinner served as a director and as Chief Executive Officer of Performance Food Group Company (PFG) from October 2006 to May 2008. Mr. Spinner previously served as PFG's President and Chief Operating Officer beginning in May 2005. Mr. Spinner served as PFG's Senior Vice President and Chief Executive Officer – Broadline Division from February 2002 to May 2005 and as PFG's Broadline Division President from August 2001 to February 2002. Mr. Spinner has also served on the Board of Directors for Arkansas Best Corporation, a public company and the parent of ABF Freight System, Inc., since July 2011.

Michael Funk

Michael S. Funk


Michael S. Funk has served as Chair of the UNFI Board of Directors since September 2008 and has been a member of the Board since February 1996. Mr. Funk served as the UNFI President and Chief Executive Officer from October 2005 to September 2008, as Chair of the Board of Directors from January 2003 to December 2003, as Vice Chair of the Board Directors from February 1996 until December 2002, as Chief Executive Officer from December 1999 until December 2002, and as President from October 1996 until December 1999. From July 1976 to April 2001, Mr. Funk served as President of Mountain People's Warehouse, Inc., a UNFI wholly-owned subsidiary. Mr. Funk currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Traditional Medicinals, World Finer Foods, and the Non-GMO Project. He also serves on the Advisory Board of The Organic Center, an industry-focused, non-profit organization.

Susan Roberts

Board Member

Susan Roberts is the Vice President of Finance for Albert’s Organics. She began her career with Albert’s Organics as the Corporate Controller, and prior to that, she held a number of financial positions in both the retail and the food industries. Ms. Roberts came to Albert’s Organics in 2006 due to her strong commitment to the industry and the healthy lifestyle that UNFI represents. She has worked closely with the Family Foundation of one of the ShopRite Members, as well as Wakefern’s community outreach program. Ms. Roberts has an MBA from Temple University in Philadelphia. She started her career in Social Work and has engaged in fund raising activities and program support as well.

Tom Dziki

Thomas A. Dziki

Board Member

Thomas A. Dziki has served as the UNFI Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resource and Sustainability Officer since August 2010. Prior to August 2010, Mr. Dziki served as the UNFI Senior Vice President of Sustainable Development, as Vice President of Sustainable Development, and as National Vice President of Real Estate and Construction. Prior to that time, Mr. Dziki served as President of Woodstock Farms Manufacturing and Select Nutrition from December 2004 until August 2006, Corporate Vice President of Special Projects from December 2003 to November 2004 and as Manager of Special Projects from May 2002 to December 2003. Prior to joining UNFI, Mr. Dziki served as private consultant to several UNFI subsidiaries. 

Melody L. Meyer

Executive Director

Melody Meyer is the Vice President of Policy and Industry Relations for UNFI. Her role is to help strengthen and promote healthy, sustainable and organic food production and consumption through education and advocacy. She has been in the organic food industry since 1976, when she began her career at an Iowa Natural Food Cooperative. Ms. Meyer started her own business, “Source Organic,” in 1995, which was eventually acquired by Albert’s Organics where she took on the role of Vice President of Global Initiatives. Ms. Meyer serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Organic Trade Association, and was President during the 2013-2014 term. She is a board trustee for The Organic Center and serves on the Organic Advisory Committee for the CA Department of Food and Agriculture. 

Ms. Meyer's lifelong passion coupled with her experience and relationships supports her goal of continued involvement and influence in the organic food industry. In her words, "It is an honor to serve our industry and the grower community through my continued work!"
