Advance childhood nutrition education (discontinued)

Compass School

Compass is a multi-age learning community which fosters a passion for learning in all students so they can reach their full potential. We offer a project-based curriculum integrating academic disciplines, emphasizing social responsibility and environmental sustainability, in small classroom settings to prepare each graduate to be a responsible citizen in the global community. Providing opportunities for students to cultivate agricultural skills is an integral part of our mission.

University of Georgia Foundation

The Fulton Fresh Mobile Market was created in 2008 to educate residents living in communities designated as food deserts on the importance of fresh, in-season produce. Each week of the program, Fulton Fresh staff provide a 30-minute UGA Extension SNAP-Ed nutrition education food demonstration to market attendees, who are also provided with a free 8-10lb bag of in-season produce from our mobile market. After several years of successful adult programming, Fulton Fresh will add a Kids’ Market summer program this year.

The Land Connection Foundation

The Land Connection (TLC) trains farmers in resilient, restorative farming techniques; informs the public about the sources of our food and why that matters; and works to protect and enhance farmland so that we, and generations to come, will have clean air and water, fertile soil, and healthy, delicious food. We envision a community-based food system in which every farmer has the opportunity to grow food in a sustainable manner, and every person can access local and organic foods.

Strategic Energy Innovations

SEI’s Climate Corps Education Outside (CCEO) program trains educators to plant the seeds of science and ecoliteracy to grow environmental leaders. We envision a world where all students have equitable access to food, nutrition, and ecoliteracy education. SEI, the administer of the CCEO program, is a nonprofit that builds leaders to drive sustainability solutions, partnering with schools and communities for 20+ years to develop elementary school to early career sustainability pathways.

Lower Columbia School Gardens

LCSG promotes healthy behaviors, increases nutrition knowledge, and builds skills for cooking and gardening with kids and families in Longview and Kelso, WA. Because of us, families have increased access to fresh, organic, locally grown produce, regardless of their ability to pay, their ability or interest in gardening or their lack of access to fresh foods because of where they live. Each day, we are meeting children where they already learn and play, providing them the skills, exposure and excitement to foster healthy habits that last a lifetime.

Pilot Light

Via engaging, hands-on food education, Pilot Light uses food as a vehicle to teach, advance wellness, and build interpersonal connections. Our mission is to support students as they learn & advocate for informed choices by bridging the lessons they learn in their classrooms to the foods on their lunch trays, at home & in their communities. Through our model, we are helping a generation of changemakers build informed lifelong relationships with food and advocate for more sustainable food systems.

Cornucopia Project

Cornucopia provides hands-on education about nutrition, horticulture, environmentalism, and community. We operate an educational farm with outdoor growing areas, three high tunnels and a pollinator habitat. It is the hub of Farm to Fork, one of three programs we offer. The farm is centrally located in our school district, across from the high school. We have a history of hands-on education that highlights the importance of nutrition, environmental awareness, and community; while delivering solid academic work that satisfies state and federal education goals.
