Chatham Outreach Alliance Inc.

CORA is a nonprofit organization that serves residents in need of food within Chatham County. Our ultimate goal at CORA is to build a community without hunger by soliciting, collecting, and purchasing food for distribution through our Food Pantry. CORA is meeting food insecurity needs for families making 200% of the poverty level ($51,500/year for a family of four). CORA is a critical source of relief that will provide safe and nutritious foods to approximately 18,000 food-insecure individuals in Chatham County 2019/2020. CORA serves any Chatham County resident who needs emergency food through our Food Pantry. CORA's Pantry and Mobile Market are based upon the late John Arnold's concept of the client-choice food pantry model. This concept is among the most revolutionary reforms to the U.S. food pantry system. Choice pantries allow families to select from a wide variety of foods that meet their personal dietary needs. CORA Food Pantry is set up like a grocery store, and families “shop” for their own food with the helpful knowledge of a volunteer.
