Frisco Student Fastpacs

Frisco Fastpacs provides weekly food packs to at-risk school-aged children in Frisco ISD schools. For the 2021-2022 school year, Frisco Fastpacs plans to serve 1,100 children across all Frisco ISD schools and provide at least 45,000 weekend meal packs. Each pack provides enough non-perishable, easily prepared food to cover the seven meals from when the children are released from school on Friday afternoon through their return on Monday morning.

Forage

Our mission is to cultivate and sustain a resilient local food community in North Central Florida through collaboration, economic opportunity, education, and seed stewardship.

Food For Thought Denver

FFT’s goal is to alleviate weekend food insecurity among students whose families are low income. FFT’s only program is to provide food so students experiencing poverty can leave school on Friday afternoon with the confidence that they will be able to prepare and eat simple meals throughout the weekend. In its elementary and middle schools, FFT’s volunteers pack and distribute PowerSacks that contain nonperishable items that can feed a family of four two meals, plus snacks.

Farmshare Austin

At Farmshare Austin, our mission is to grow a healthy, just and equitable local food system by increasing community food access and cultivating new farmers. We envision a future of resilient local food economies that ensures equitable access to food and to the resources needed to farm. Farmshare Austin builds bridges between the produce grown on our 10-acre certified organic farm in Eastern Travis County and food access programs reaching food insecure communities in Central Texas.

Druid City Garden Project

Schoolyard Roots cultivates curiosity and connections through hands-on learning gardens. We engage communities with food and nature to inspire, delight, and bring classroom concepts to life. We grow vegetables, fruits, and flowers in school gardens and teach students how to prepare healthful, delicious recipes. By providing our students with engaging, hands-on learning and nutrition education, our program helps them to achieve academic success and live a healthier life.

Denver Urban Gardens

DUG's mission is to provide access, skills and resources for people to grow healthy food in community and regenerate urban greenspaces. Vision: A sustainable urban future where people are deeply and directly connected to the earth, each other and the food they eat. Established in 1985, DUG supports residents in creating sustainable, food-producing community gardens. With 193 gardens, including 74 at schools, 1 farm and 6 food forests, DUG is now the largest independent network of community gardens in the country.

Cooking with Kids Inc.

Cooking with Kids educates and empowers children and families to make healthy food choices through hands-on learning with fresh, affordable foods. We aim to positively change eating behaviors, increase home cooking practices, and support public schools in their efforts to engage students in creative and cross-disciplinary ways. As we tell our students: We take care of ourselves when we cook; we use science and math when we cook; we learn about our world when we cook!

White County Food Pantry

The Food Pantry purchases food from the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia and two local grocers. We also receive donated food from individuals and, on occasion, from other charitable organizations. The food is stored in our warehouse and boxed for clients based on family size and composition. The boxes are given to families who qualify by being residents of White County and meeting USDA poverty thresholds.

Uproot Colorado

UpRoot Colorado (UpRoot) measurably reduces surplus protective foods in Colorado, supports the economic stability of farmers and increases the nutritional security of our state’s residents.

University of Georgia Foundation

The Fulton Fresh Mobile Market was created in 2008 to educate residents living in communities designated as food deserts on the importance of fresh, in-season produce. Each week of the program, Fulton Fresh staff provide a 30-minute UGA Extension SNAP-Ed nutrition education food demonstration to market attendees, who are also provided with a free 8-10lb bag of in-season produce from our mobile market. After several years of successful adult programming, Fulton Fresh will add a Kids’ Market summer program this year.
