Food Access Innovations

Community Farmers Markets

The mission of Community Farmers Markets is to develop a local food infrastructure for long term sustainability and meaningful community impact. Our purpose is to root, grow, and preserve a diverse local food culture by maintaining an authentic space for all people to share community, fair food, and healthy lifestyles while providing a sustainable living for producers who steward the earth.

Replate

Replate’s mission is to reduce food waste and mitigate climate change while improving access to nutritious meals for communities experiencing food insecurity. We are a community-based, food rescue solution that operates at the intersection of technology and impact. Replate was founded in 2016 by Maen Mahfoud, CEO, whose vision as a Syrian immigrant is to solve the dual problems of food waste and food insecurity through a tech-enabled social enterprise focused on generating systems level impact.

Loaves and Fishes MN

Our mission is to provide healthy meals to Minnesotans in areas where need is greatest. We are guided by our vision that all people deserve to meet their basic needs for food, dignity, and respect. We serve meals and rescue food in Aitkin, Anoka, Carlton, Carver, Cass, Dakota, Hennepin, Lake, Lyon, Mille Lacs, Ramsey, Scott, Sherburne, Stearns, St. Louis, and Washington counties and continue to expand into Greater Minnesota.

The Good Acre

The Good Acre unlocks economic opportunity for farmers in our region, especially those who historically have been excluded from opportunities to make a viable living. Our unique combination of personalized support and market development promotes both economic well-being and a more sustainable, resilient, and community-centered food system. We approach our work through partnerships that create meaningful, long-lasting market access for farmers and food access for our communities.

YMCA Southcoast

Sharing the Harvest Community Farm (STH), a project of YMCA Southcoast, is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven community farm established in 2006 as a grassroots effort to alleviate hunger for families on the south coast of Massachusetts.

FoodRecovery.org

The mission of FoodRecovery.org is to recover surplus food that would be sent to landfills. While hunger continues to be one of the most urgent issues, the United States wastes 119 billion pounds of food. According to the USDA, over one third of food produced goes to waste, while 1 in 8 individuals are food insecure. The issue of hunger and wasted food seem counterintuitive, and FoodRecovery.org exists to connect these issues to fight food insecurity and protect our environment. All for free.

All Relations United

We utilize the Lakota philosophy of Mitakuye Oyasin, "we are all related," as our guiding principle, to unite, reinvest in and empower our communities. We use traditional teachings along with modern and technological knowledge to advance education, promote culture, further self-sufficiency especially food sovereignty, and to encourage reconciliation and cooperation among all peoples, creating pathways to living in unity.

Food Project Inc.

The Food Project’s mission is to create a thoughtful and productive community of youth and adults from diverse backgrounds who work together to build a sustainable food system. Our community produces healthy food for residents of the city and suburbs, provides youth leadership opportunities, and inspires and supports others to create change in their own communities.
